Well I am sure many can appreciate the rainy weather that occured over the lovely holiday break - everywhere I went, from the north coast to the Blue mountains....it rained...and I got eaten by mosquitos..and ticks...and leeches. Nonetheless, the following images pretty much sum-up my holiday break of walks and 4wding in a car thats not meant to 4wd.. especially in the wet

The stuff that was the cause of my wet holiday...
I stayed dry during this walk, but was bitten by mosquitos - on the back, through the shirt



2 mins after I took this image it was completely white....and then I got wet, again.



once again - sunrise, failed. (but I am definitely heading back to this location when the weather is better)
yep, you guessed it I got wet again...



yeah looks pretty the water eh? 2 leeches pulled after this walk, but did not get wet.


sweated my ass off up the hill in the ONLY 0.5 hours of sunshine for the whole week, then got wet and cold.

At least you could walk and didn't need to anchor yourself to a tree to avoid being carried away.

Love the 3rd shot Gerry. The location shows enormous promise with decent weather and a morning/evening sky. Well spotted.

Wow some truly stunning images here! Each of them shines on their own but put together they make such an impact.. loving them all!

All of these images have a great feel to them. I say the overcast weather has worked in your favour, blue skies are boring!

yeah loving that spot, quite easy to get too also, just need to watch the tides....

I am assuming your camera and lenses are weather sealed.

I wish I was alittle worried about the D80, but the old sports cap on the camera assembly seemed to keep most of the water off, the nikkor 17-55 and tokina 11-16 seem pretty well sealed and I did not have too much concern about them.

I was using the Flipside 400AW bag which has an all weather hood, this worked great, kept out all the water and still permits one to easily access the gear - admitting when you access the gear you need to be a bit prudent and not do it in a down pour.

but put together they make such an impact

ya would not be saying that after the 5th day of rain and heading out for another walk I would have been happy with just one day of blue

Kudos for braving the weather to get these. It has been worth it looking at your results.

Love the #1 but wanting see a little more of the leaf. Did you hand hold this? Also how did you flash for this one??

#2 is upto your usual pano standards.

#3 I would prefer slightly more fluffy waves. I found that 0.5 seconds was best for waves during our coogee shoot. I suppose it depends on the speed of the waves.

Did you hand hold #4? If so, impressive at 1/2 second! Love the streaky bubbles on the water.

1st and 3rd are the best ones
the macro image is great, good to see you adventuring out and getting great pics, keep it up

i agree, I actually did try and get more leaf in the frame, I was aiming to get the whole leaf but was under duress.
Hand held with the micro 55mm with the SB600 handheld off to the left.

yes, that woudl be nice - I just wish I had a bit more time there, I only took 1 composition of that little area due to the rain (which you cant see, but it was there). The waves were actually quite nice and big and if I had the patience I would have come away with a much better shot.

yep, took about 4 images of this frame to try and get a decent one - no coffee for days so the hands were pretty steady..

the macro image is great, good to see you adventuring out

This is a great set Gerry. At least you have green to go with the rain.
A mate and I went down to Bungonia and it was as dry as ........eventhough it rained most of the night prior to two days of walking and had a shower on the second day.
