Drought Landscape! Now with Pano Version ;-)

I went home to the family farm over the new year break. Believe it or not its a drought. They had 7 inches of rain between 25-31 Dec so its all green. I shot this in the afternoon sun.

Critique welcome. Would be interested in your views on it and whether it can be improved in PP, I like it but it may just be the childhood memories the photo evokes.

I shot at F/5.6, should have gone out to F8-11 maybe.

Here is a crop based on feedback, looking better?

This is beautiful as it is.

Perhaps try cropping into pano(ish) by taking away 15% top and bottom.

:agree: First thought I had was brilliant image, but would be better with top and bottom cropped .. could see it hanging on the wall somewhere

I agree with the suggestions to crop this a little.

From the top, leave a little bit of sky above the windmill.

From the bottom, you have some streaks of sunlight just below the tower. leave those streaks in; crop just below them.

Pano version much better!

should have gone out to F8-11 maybe.

alittle extra sharpening for web makes alot of difference here imo.

I had a quick play - let me know if ya want it removed.

Agree with the others that the cropped and sharpened version looks better.

I would also suggest playing with BW (yellow filter.....)

The final image is so much better. It's a scene that really lends itself to a crop/pano.

Very nice, I will have to have a closer look at sharpening. Are you using NX2?

I am pretty happy with the results now. Will make some changes to the original and see how it looks as a print.

Great images, crop works even better and i like the slightly darker finish compared to the brighter image that Gerry has done. i would definitely print this one.

yep, in this case since it was already web sized I just applied radius 2 at about 50-60 % from memory.

If you are going in for print maybe consider large radius (maybe 20) at 10% followed by radius 2 at 60%. All nominal figures though...you gotta play with the particular image to get the best rests imo.

There was a good hint from Wendell yonks ago about progressive sharpening that I found very helpful. If you cant find it let me know and I will try and dig it up.
