I really like roadway images, especially desert roads. Here's a few from recent in the land of the long white coffee:

World heritage area, Ohakune (HDR)


Whakapapa ski resort, without the snow. Mt Ruapehu in the background


Forgotten world highway, just outside Toko

Ozi, the first might work with a pano crop as well.
If you pano crop the last one, you could get two separate images on top and bottom!!!!

My work monitor shows these as a little oversaturated but probably the effect that you were after.

Number 1 and 2 are winners for me - only thing that could better #1 would be a dark silver 911 driving away from you but we can't have everything can we... the HDR treatment initially looks overdone to me, making it cartoonish in feel, but actually it adds great depth to the image and the lush green you have brought out in the vegetation is fantastic.

Number 2 I'd like to see a B&W conversion - the road will be a great leading line and the array of lines and angles all over the image will lend itself to the mono treatment.

I love roads too Ozi (as a keen photographer and even keener driver). You've captured these really well and I can't add much to what's been said. Last time I was over there many of the roads at teh bottom of the North Island were washed out after severe weather. The road surface might be good but often what's under is a little "temperamental" (like the whole country I suppose!) Hard to enjoy a good fast drive when the road falls off the mountain

I think they most probably are oversaturated but as I'm doing this on my aging Macbook, I have no idea how they're supposed to look. It looks completely different on any other monitor. I can tweak these colours later.

As for Whakapapa, I won't pronounce the word (even though I know how to pronounce it). It's too rude for me!

The bloke in the motel room next to our last night was driving a 2009 Walkinshaw Commodore, 307 kw. It would have been to tour in that!

The Kiwi roads are surprisingly good despite the rainfall. Puts our north coast NSW roads to shame. Mind you, any respectable goat track would do that too...

Yesterday's drive was amazing. The Forgotten World highway, starting at Taumarunui, goes for 150km to Stratford, via some of the world's great scenery. It has 13 kms of dirt and the rest (sealed) is sensational. I'm not a petrol head myself but I do appreciate a good drive.

I like the first image. The color is saturated but it works for me.

Oz has some good roads. Tassie and the Snowy Mountains are good drives.
The GOR would be good if it wasn't for the caravan towing tourists, but it is a tourist drive after all.

As for the photo's - very nice I, too, love road photo's - probably something to do with the way I prefer to travel

Not sure about the first one, I think it may need to be seen really big to appreciate it properly - here, it seems a little too overdone on the HDR. Still pretty choice tho bro

Love the pic of my mountain (Ruapehu) - it's a special place ah.

The Forgotten Highway's a great drive - did it a few years back when over with Stubbsy - this shot's a good example of the roads through much of New Zealand

Great photos. There does seem to be a little bit too much saturation, but who cares, they look great.

If you do want a great driving road in NZ then the road between Omarama and Cromwell is hard to beat. Its called the 'Lindis Pass Tarras Road.' It has long sweeping bends, good visibility of oncoming traffic, (good for safely overtaking stupid campervans,) excellent condition of the road and fantastic views. Its a wind-ey road you can drive fast on and not run off it. I enjoyed it so much, I turned around and did it again. (Well three times if you count the trip back to the top) I rented a fully-sick Mazda 6 with hard suspension and low profile tires. Went alright.

I like all these images, roads do it for me too.........would love to take the m/cycle on some of these

Great shots, but those roads are wasted on a car. My m/cycle would be perfect.

A nice R1200 Beamer would do the trick, or even a 'blade. Yep, these corners are crying out for a motorsickle.
