Any tips on indoor sports? I could never get a decent shot of indoor soccer.

Whats wrong with this one?

And what sort of problem are you having?.. blurred.. no ball in shot??.. etc??

Try a fast shutter speed, perhaps up the ISO to allow for lower light and keep the shutter speed higher.. but I'm thinking that if you know the sport that helps also as you get to predict where the action will hit next.. :)

I would try a longer lens, and get in closer to the action, indoor has too many distractions around the court.

If you are allowed, a good flash can be of help - highlighting the action and leaving the background darker

thanks. I am already shooting at 1/320, f4 and ISO 6400. I try not to use flash as much as possible.

It's difficult stopping indoor action when restricted to F4, but we can only use the tools we have at hand. If you are able to, with permissions, enough room ect, to crouch down behind the goal line, that's where i'd be shooting from. It enables the play to come towards you with faces in frame, more easily track the player and anticipate the action, getting faces and the ball at the foot, head, or in close proximity to the subject so it tells the story. So you can fill the frame, wait for the play come to you instead of chasing it up the pitch and shooting from a low position puts you in with the action while helping to keep background clutter to a minimum and out of focus. The guidelines are the same as with outdoor soccer. Hope this helps a little and good luck with it.

Your options are limited.

1. Perhaps crosslight with two or four flashes on each side zoomed to the max to kill most of the green ambient. At ISO 800/1600, you will only need very weak flashes.

2. Or get a D3s/1D4 and use the ISO102400 or whatever.

The first option is preferable because you will be in control of the light that way.

Would be surprised if you find one in the trading post... http://www.nikon.com.au/productitem.php ... c75670a50e

Suren was making a funny! :biglaugh:

I would also check the white balance in your first image, on my rubbish monitor at work it appears to have a green cast.
