Hello everyone, if you had viewed my earlier topic in the week it had a few wedding images. Well i have had some time to touch my favourite up. Bellow i have attached the original and the newly touched up version, i took on board everyones coments especially about the magnetta which was quite dominant on the bride and groom. i have tried to adjust those levels and have also made a few other changes. Can you let me know what you think of my re work?

thanks for looking.

I find that with this image my eyes get drawn to the couple first, however given the main focus is on the candles I think the eyes should head there first rather then to the couple.

I think the cropping makes me look more towards the couple that then candles and hence the first thought is the out of focus side of things.

Firstly, I would straighten the image to align with the candle holder, then bring a bit more light to the candles and that area then, as you have done, tone done the saturation/brightness on the couple...

If you want to post a link to a larger version this might be a good one for people to exercise their PP tastes on it

Hello, well i've been at it again!! lol ----one good thing when kids are ill, they are quiet and lathargic which allows us time to do what we want to do!!

Here is another one i've been fiddling with, i've tried to blend the original tone in with the other version so that the candles kept their life colors. And i've titled it, i quite like it, but not sure about the date and where it should go.....

Image

I have one question, how would it turn out if i added a canvas effect to the image? i've fiddled In photoshop cs2 doing it, and on screen it looks nice - doesn't emphasise the graininess from the high iso, but i am unsure if it would work when printed, its one thing to look good on screen but another in print form.....the brides family have requested it to be printed, i think it would look great as a square canvas but am unsure if it would look ok or would it look a bit dodgey? mmm so many questions! lol

Hope you don't mind that i had a quick go at it...

Image

Cropped, changed the white balance, sharpened (a bit to much by the look of it) and increased the exposure on the candles as much as i dare.
The candles really needed to be a lot sharper.

Hmm.. I am not convinced. I just feel that the couple looks pasted rather than in the background because the rest of the background is too dark to allow any depth perception. Can you bring out the background more to provide context?

Otherwise it may look a little composited and awkward.

Do you happen to have any with the couple in sharp focus ?

yeah i agree in a way about the background and looking like they the bride and groom have been pasted in, but when i did the writing it felt too busy which is why i went down the path of getting rid of the background, but i may have gone too far with it so i will have another go at it and leave some of the background.

Thanks all for your advice. really appreciate it. Its really helping me become a better photographer and helps me improove my pp.

Got an idea or two. Can you post a LARGE jpeg somewhere so we can have a crack at this? [I am sure Gerry will also have a go]

If you have one with the couple in focus, then pls post that as well.
