Darren, what equipment were you using to takes these - camera, lens, tc, etc?
How much are they cropped?

All shot with Nikon d3, 400mm + 1.7TC

They are not cropped much, at most 50%, if at all

Hi, apart from the obvious technical quality I really like the expressions and the story - hope the kids parents appreciate your effort

Darren, In your signature it says that you have a D3 and a D300.
Why did you used the D3 with the 1.7 and not the D300 with no tc?
Was it just the frame rate difference (5 vs 9)?

I've just switched from the D300 to full frame so I'm curious.

I have actually just sold my D300, it sat neglected apart from the occassional use as a 2nd body

Bottomline is that the af speed, shutter response time, noise handling, and general IQ of FX on the D3 meant after quite a bit of testing that I prefer to use it under all conditions, regardless of the crop factor advantage of DX
