I set myself a challenge to photograph mundane objects around the home and see what I could come up with. The intent was to make all the shots square crop and converted to B&W or use the '300' preset in LR2. Oh and I was to use just one lens....the 60mm micro set at f6.3 in aperture priority with auto ISO, no artifical lighting. Here is the result of some of those shots. Feedback greatly appreciated.

i think theyre great geoff. im a fan of shooting the mundane, and they work! nice tones, simple composition. i think n.2 looks a little skewed?

Geoff I really like #1 and #3. They are well spotted, composed and processed. Very rustic feel. Would be great as a series.

Funny you should mention that, as it was your recent post http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=39074 that inspired me to set myself the challenge described.

These are very well done. I think it takes some talent to make interesting images from mundane. common items. Keep pushing the theme and watch your vision become even more keen and critical.

great! the advantage is theres always a good supply of subject matter and you never have to go far to get it. plus it pushes you to be creative.. well done!

What a fantastic idea - and resulted in a brilliant series. Love # 1 & #3 - they have so much depth and texture, that they have become works of art, not mundane objects
