I was browsing on flickr today and saw what I thought, a very interesting picture of a couple of tulips captured by PICA.
I liked the image that much that I had to try and recreate this one for myself.
It did take me a while to set it up and to capture it but I have to admit that it is nowhere near as good as the one from PICA. Anyway here is my result would love to know what you think and maybe you have got some ideas on how to make this one better.

Could we see the shot that inspired you. Perhaps post a link.

I personally would like to see more light from the left. It doesn't need much, just enough to define the flower's form. Perhaps a dull reflector.

I feel the same with the lighting just could not get it right, will have to try a little more on this one!

Could I suggest softer light especially since your roses have a complex contour. Perhaps a gridded (single diffused) softbox would be better.

The hardish light suits the tulips because their comtour isn't as complex.

Just a thought.

Nice replication of his method BTW.
