Hey guys,

This one here is what i was doing at the Rosemount most of the time, all my efforts gone to good i reckon, hope to hear from you guys =)

the border actually works well on this image, but the three clicks to apply some more contrast would have been better spent

That first one is a great composition and not matter what, it holds its own. (maybe some feet would have been nice...)

you can't imagine the anticipation i have sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for a comment.. and thus it was more on the positive side for criticism =D hahaha

I was tempted to up the contrast a bit, but thought i'd send this through as I wasn't sure whether to or not, but thanks for the positives =D driving me forward i tell ya!

Clever use of evening light. Did you use any fill?

This model has strong eye contact and you have used it especially in the #3.

#1 has great composition and light.

#2 has a great 80s feel to it. Love the composition.

#4 Has a great color scheme which fits the mood. You could lift the facial shadow a little though.

And yes... I didn't have fill on the first one from memory... the only one that had a slight bit of fill was #2.. which was actually from an external light source moved closer.. so technically.. it wasn't flash but it was fill.. haha

Sweet on #4.. i might just go do that now..

and yes.. it was only touched by compression and the border through fastone resizer. =D great program shown to me by aim54x. =D

i keep coming back to the first and third images, the eye contact makes it so much more engaging and for me a much better picture. The third image is nicely composed with a diagonal composition - I like them! and as previously mentioned the first is a great composition and can jold it on its own.

In terms of PPing these, as mentioned I would look at the contrast adjustments, its amazing how much a little bit of correct contrast adjustment can change a image from an oridinary one to a pro looking one, note this could also just be a phase I am going thru

anyways, onto the subject, I had a quick crack at the two images I liked, no more than 3 clicks for each image

The BW needs to be exactly that, black and white, its a very nicely exposed image some you can push that contrast without blowing the white on th eforehead (for example). The first with a little colour cast adjustment and then tonal contrast and imo..wow! anyway enough blab...onto th eimages.

they are all really good because verything like the composition through to the faciual expression are well thought of but i still thiunk there is this tilt framing creeping in and i feel you just do it for novelty, i dont think the images require the tilt
its a fashioin image and whats most important is the story and feeling it portrays the tilt doesnt add to that unlss you consider the photographer was drunk at the time, ha ha(just a joke)

I'm going with kickass too, agree with the Minor changes suggested but these look very publishable to me

Ahh~ Thanks for you're wonderful appearance Wendell! haha i guess in a sense.. the tilt is also lack of wrist strength.. i am 19 and haven't developed those muscles yet!! but all in all.. I've on just started to see why it's so important to have such straight horizons and verticals.. it really does detract from the image the way you said.. ( feel as though you have to tilt your head to see the picture haha ) and it's breaking the habit that's really making me feel as if I'm developing more and more.

But all in all dude, thanks for you're advice during RAFW! much appreciated! and hope to be assisting you soon =D

THanks for the upload on the images.. i can see why the up on contrast works so well on the B&W.. though on my screen tones aren't so good to view on.. so the highlights on my screen look ALMOST blown out.. ( darn toshiba screens )
love the contrast work you've done in the first image.. and I agree with how amazing it is for the correct contrast adjustment to be made.. lately though.. everything and i do mean EVERYTHING that I've been critiquing heavily on is colors, warmth and cold. It really was brought to my attention these things by the photographer's there ( mainly Wendell of course obviously I listen to him ). I guess I'll be going through phases of color, contrast, exposure and composition, I really can't wait to see what I'll be producing in the few months to come! i mean.. Mercedes Fashion Week is ONLY in August..

Thanks Kiwi, kicking ass/butt/bottom/ gluteus maximus..either or either it's really motivating to hear it from seasoned photographers =D to hear that my work looks very publishable is something of a major compliment to me haha not that i'll let that slide to my head...

Sorry, I should have explained myself further. It is not so much what I don't like of 3 and 4. In fact they are very good as far as composition and concept go. It is simply that the other two are more to my liking.
I like the sharpness in the black and white and I guess your choice of B&W could be because the colour of the dress is too overpowering and you want us to notice the girl's face.
I like the composition in number 4, but I feel the colours are subdued and need to be a bit more vibrant. I am not sure if the problem here is the exposure or lack of sharpness. Perhaps 4 could be a bit sharper or a touch more contrast? I like the fact that the background is blurred but you can make out the arches and architecture.
