Went out for some BIF practice this weekend. A most frustrating exercise in all.

I couldn't get close enough to these to get a good detailed shot, so I went for composition instead.

That first shot is a cracker. It's almost doesn't look real.
I don't know why, but in the second shot my eye keeps getting drawn to the OOF bird in the back.

Really like the 1st - just a great pose with the wing movement and the white is exposed spot on and really pops against the background
Like the 2nd - love the symetry, reflections and color but the leading lines in the photo takes the eye R to L leaving you on the OOF bird. If I was going to print big I'd be inclined to cut the LH bird and move to the RH side .
And you are quite correct BIF are challenging but youv'e done a great job

I bet, but you have done excellently here imo.

:agree:

looks like a harrier jet coming in to land...wings and stuff going each which way!

but in the second shot my eye keeps getting drawn to the OOF bird in the back.

:agree:

Although maybe cropping tighter on the two birds might help? All that blue is not rocking my world...

I like the first a lot! It really captures and freezes that gull....I think that OOF bird on the LHS has to go.

Kevin, it is really challenging - small fast moving objects but you have pulled it off

I am with the majority here, love the first shot, a perspective on a gull you rarely see.

I find my eye wanders around the second and keeps landing on the OOF bird, would love to see this shot the other way with the back bird in focus.

Some good points on the second pic, so I found a similar shot that may be more appealing.
