Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

OK, so I bought myself a light tent a good while back and have not used it very much so thought I should dust it off and have a go. Main purpose of the exercise was to try and ensure that even lighting was acheived. Subject matter was what I could lay my hands on at the time. Lighting used was two off camera SB800's one each high left and right of light tent, fired remotely with the D90 on board flash. The onboard flash was shielded so that there was not too much front light and harsh reflections. Feed back would be greatly appreciated on the lighting. BTW the surface used to stand the subjects on is a 600mm square, black onyx tile I purchased last week for $10. Not as black as I was hoping for, more like a grey, but I can of course increase the black point in PS as I have done here. I had been searching for a black tile for ages..............you would not believe how diffucult it was. Most black tiles are produced in only small sizes, 300 sq being the biggest. Anything bigger had decorative specks, flecks or veining which are added as it is near impossible to acheive a good plain black finish, but hey I digress.........on with the images. I wanted to get the complete reflection in on this but the tile was just too small for the size of the subject.  Being a pom and partial to a cuppa, had to take some shots of this!   ......and a leaf I had previously stuck in the deep freeze for another project I have in mind

Looks good.
I've seen mention on here before of using black perspex instead of tile. Maybe that's a better option?

Yes, black perspex (acrylic) is a good option, but it would be very unlikely you would get a piece 600sq for $10! It's expensive stuff.

Geoff The lighting looks good. 1)Very even blanced light, 2)A couple of reflections off the teapot, but I like them, 3) love it, very surreal and magical, 4)like this as well, very different.  Craig
