Deep in the Blue... Mountains that is.
It's been a while since I posted a shot. These ones were all shot with my new D700 on our Blue Mountains wander to Wentworth Falls on Saturday. This first one I'm not quite sure about and so I'd much appreciate your critique on the image This was shot at sunset This one was a happy accident. When I took the shot my on board flash accidentally fired an off camera flash being held by Craig to the left of the shot. and finally one I'm not sure about Peter

Re: Deep in the BlueCongrats on the D700!! Everytime I pick one up I want one more and more!
That is an interesting image of the rock...but it lacks something to make is special. As for the friendly fire, thats why CLS is great, and also why I make sure I dont use the default channel for my flashes. Cameron

Re: Deep in the BlueI like the lighting in the second. Well spotted.
Re: Deep in the Blue
I am not convinced on teh merits of BW for this image, for me, it does not add anything to the image, I find teh squiggles and stripey bark interesting and eye catching but this is dulled by the mono-tone. How does the colour version look? are there nice colours in the bark? I like the second image, it has nice colours and soft light, however my eye needs a path to travel thru the image, which on a second look it seems to have, but I end up at the top right corner looking at that dull rock. Maybe just a slight crop might isolate all the good parts in this image and capture the viewers eye a bit better. thoughts? gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Deep in the BlueThe first one I find the background too distracting so doesn't work for me.
The second has the best light, I find, as Gerry suggests, a bit of crop would likely help. Congrats on the new camera, the D700 is lovely.
