Here are some images for critique taken from Flat Rock in the Blue Mountains last weekend. Please share your thoughts on these images both good and bad. These images are best seen large - click a pic to see the larger version.

They all seem to be a bit flat Peter, even HDR'ish. What PP work have you done on these?

#1 The power lines along the ridge and the lack of a defined foreground focal point tend to dimish the shot in my view. I do like the subtle colours in the sky but I want to see beyond the ridge. I want more, if you get what I mean.

#2 I know the horizon is straight but the horozotial line in the cliff makes me tilt my head sideways a bit.

#3 The foreground seems to not have enough exposure. The colours in the sky are great but the overall effect seems overdone hdr. It would have been a perfect shot for a reverse grad filter.

I agree they all do look a little flat. Sorry, not very positive.

Compositionally these are weaker to stand on their own.

The colors are very attractive in general. I can see the HDR effect though. that's because I am used to photomatix. If these are not HDR, then to your sensor and exposure!

I don't like the color mismatch between the foreground and the background in the last one. It seems less plausible that there would be such discrepancy of color temperature in nature. [I am not saying that wasn't the case though]

The sky in the first is brilliant. Just needs something in the foreground to make it more interesting.

Good to see you around Peter. We definitely need to catch up upnorth at some stage.

Thank you all for the quality of your feedback. As was widely noted these are HDR shots. My feeling was that I'd not been able to quite make a decent image from what I had (#1 was my pick of these), but I was hoping my pessimism wasn't warranted.

All I know it's I like the third one...
I thinks it's the colour of the sky...
It feels to my eyes a more natural
landscape than the other two.
