Thought I would grab a photographic keepsake of my 3-1/2-year-old prior to attending my cousin's wedding reception a couple of weeks ago. Apart from posing unprompted and making faces, Valentine also demanded that her ukelele be included.

Fuji S5 Pro, 50mm @ f/2.2, only minor curve adjustment & unsharp mask applied.

The background is kind of cluttered for a portrait. My only excuse is that in future it will remind her of her house at that age.

thats a very mischevious look on her face!

I very nice family shot and I am sure the poor girl will regret loving that ukelele so much when this picture comes out at her 21st!

This is great. It's totally unfair (but we all do it when we look at our photos) to compare an impromptu shot like this which is absolutely gorgeous, with a studio model shot. Yes, the background could be less cluttered, yes, the face could be slightly better lit and yes, the dress could be toned down slightly- but these comments are completely missing the point- this shot is 'real' photography, taken when the opportunity arises and treasured for ever more. Well done.
