On Saturday between class at the ACP and the Vivid meet, I did an afternoon shoot in Paddington with a couple of classmates and my other half, who came along to Vivid and meet a few of you. These are my current favs.

HI Love the images but 3 and 4 cry out for some softening on the cheek area and maybe a touch on the forehead angles--poses--light look great

Jon, the first and last are real standouts for me - the composition and teh pose in the first is spot on imo, great balance on a head and shoulders shot

The last one I really like too, the framing (with the shawl) of the face works very well, however, how about cropping a bit tighter? I found my eyes wandering on it a bit and having it alittle tighter would really draw me in, straight onto those eyes! Its also a great expression...

In all teh images I would go for a softer look - I don't think there is any reason to be pin sharp over the whole face except for the eyes...

I had a quick crack at the first one - I hope you don't mind, if you want it removed just let me know....I really should stop editing others pictures and worry about my own

Thanks all for the comments! I agree that particularly the last two could use a quick touch up - these are straight out of the camera RAW files via lightroom with the camera standard profile applied and no further processing (I wonder if that counts as OOC for the pureists? ). Normally with shots like these I'd do a little skin softening and tweak the eyes - but I was tired and wanted to share!

Gerry, I'll experiment with the crop you suggested as well, I think I prefer the bit of space but until I try I'll never know!

Just as an FYI, I've noticed viewing these in Chrome they look awful and nothing like what I'm seeing from lightroom. In firefox they look fine. As I recall Firefox is colour managed, guess Chrome isn't! Something to look into.

I agree - Huge improvement

It’s not often that I say this, but the photography is of little importance when you have such a lovely model.

Dawsey, you have done well on both fronts

The reworked last one is a beautiful image.

Especially in a critique thread. Edited versions definitely look better. I am viewing these in Chrome and they look fine, may compare to IE later (dont have FF installed at work).

To be honest, initially I wasn't going to tweak these ones at all, but having read the comments and then done it I can see I will stick to processing all these type of images in future.

Oddly I'm not finding an issue with Chrome at work on a non-calibrated screen. Seems to be an issue with my PC.

I prefer the first set to the second. I believe they look
more natural. Of the first set I like the last best.

Nice work Dawesy! She has beautiful eyes and I would be tempted to tweak the greens a little in [HUE/SATURATION] to make them even more striking.

The close up of the face. Try sharpening the eyes a little as well as the color tweak that MAtt has suggested. It's all in the eyes.

Interesting you picked this up! Her eyes are brown/green and vary with the light but she loves the green in her eyes (as do I) and wanted me to accentuate this in processing so I've already tried to bring it out more than in the original up the top. I'll have another play and see if I can't bring it out even more and see how it looks, but I don't want to push it too far.

Thanks! Will look at the eyes, good chance my skin softening has clipped the lashes too, something I always need to watch.
