Re: Latest offerings of my daughters. I really like teh first, the use of the space on the left hand side makes it more interesting than just a kid portrait The second is beautifully lit, naturally almost? with two great, but different, expressions it is a real winner for the photo album. The processing on the last does not really grab me, but that I think is more a personal preference than anything else!
interesting title - I almost thought I was reading some 1st testament story gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Latest offerings of my daughtersVery cute Geoff! Keep taking photos of them while they still allow you to
Out of the photos, I really like the first one as the composition is different to the other three. One thing I'd watch out for is her jumper being cropped out. Great to see you're having fun with the new lens. Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone
Come follow the rabbit hole...
Re: Latest offerings of my daughters
Entirely natural lighting used in all of these shots. The only artifical light was in the first, natural window light from the left, but with the addition of a single tungsten lamp on top of the bookcase, you can see the colour cast on the top of her hair. The first photo is shot at ISO3200, SOC noise is not too bad all things considered, but this has been cleaned up in LR3.
In hind sight that is so true......I must be more creative with my titles!
Strange that you say that, not so long ago they were always more than happy to oblige with the posing for photo's, in recent months its has become increasingly difficult to get them to cooperate and I have on occasions needed to resort to bribary! Re: Latest offerings of my daughtersBrilliant! You are lucky to have semi-willing subjects!!
The only niggle I can see would be that half moon shaped highlight on the top of the head on #3. #4 has unusual processing which is very timeless... What sort of processing did you use here? Highpass/desaturate/sepia... ?
Re: Latest offerings of my daughtersGood to see more images.
#1 looks great with some nice directional light, although i would experiment with turning it down a tad #2 a great snap there, nice even light and natural smiles #3 one for the family album #4 The processing works really well!! Cameron

Re: Latest offerings of my daughters
Processing was done in LR3. I used a downloaded preset '300 v2' as a starting point and made a few additional adjustments from there including a further desat. Fuji X-Pro1 | X-E1 | X-T1 | XF14 | XF23 | XF27 | XF35 | XF56 | XF60 | XF10-24 | XF18-55 | XF55-200 | MCEX-11
