Merewether Sunrise

I went along with the rest of the Newcastle sundancers to this winter solstice sunrise. Got to sleep in for this one! Sunrise was 6:56am.

It was nothing special in-terms of clouds but had to take some pictures nevertheless!

I quite like these, the first and last are standouts for me, the second I feel needs to be a fraction wider, just to get the starting block in and the corner of the pool, nontheless its a very tidy image imo.

I love the first, the misty trails of water ( i assume thats what it is) on the side of the pool have me intrigued and interested! I would like to see the sky pumped with a bit of tonal contrast to bring out a bit of detail, but other than that I thinks it fine and dandy

Strangely enough it is #2 that really appeals to me, it does need to be wider though.

Well done, what a fantastic time to get out of bed!! and to me that is such a sleep in as my kids are up before 6.

In regards to the photos, i love the lighting you caught in #1....on the rails it looked amazing to me, i love it, i really do.

I agree that #2 would have been made even better if it had have been a bit wider, but love it none the less. so well done.

But #3 doesn't do anything for me personally but an interesting shot to look at. I enjoyed this post a lot. so thanks.

Sky had NO detail on that day Gerry. I may have to resort to cheating to bring out detail there....

Fair enough. I only posted it because it's a very long exposure with IR filter. There were quite a few people on the pool but most got blurred out. The IR doesn't help your cause too much when photographing water though.

Surenj - #1 is perfect - great use of the light and nice leading lines. Bummed I missed it - that's a sunrise time that fits with my body clock (would have been bloody cold though)

Thanks Peter. I have taken the #1 before with similar light (Actually even better) but, my grad filter had a scratch on it which made it un-usable. This is the second attempt.
