#1 My pick. Excellent use of rotation of image. Maybe boost the reflection's luminosity just a little.
#2 Excellent image. Just a shame about the flare at the top of the reflection.
#3 It is a real shame it has a powercord & board trailing through the background. A little cloning would not go astray here.
#4 I simply don't buy the "reflection". Not only is it not of the image to the right, it is also a different scale. The bricks don't match. This kills the entire image for me. Just too jarring.
Mr Darcy wrote:OK I've now looked at these on the big screen.
#4 makes sense now.
It is a single shot. The dancer is in front of a wall (almost) normal to the plane of the photo. Most of the light is bouncing from that wall The wall to the left is much closer than the wall to the right. That's why the bricks look bigger. On the small screen (13"), I read the bright wall as a line of reflection as in #1, #2. That's why I got confused.
I still don't think it works though. Visually confusing even on the 24"
The others look even better though. I love the limning in #3. You still need to lose the power cord though.
Hello Mr Darcy!
Thank you for your response as I was quite baffled by the textures. I attempted to shoot straight out of camera with only color and curves correction and this was what i got, I was questioning the forward leftside bricks myself, the reflecting light off the wall was actually caused by the speedlite facing the back of my subject, this was a one strobe shot, (as most of them were, 1 or 2 used 2 extra
modelling lamps thats about it).

What were you using for triggers and lights? You have frozen the action well.
Was using Phottix Tetra and one 580EX II. No plexiglass, it was raining outside so the water leaked through. I just positioned myself on the ground and my subject on an elevated surface with the water infront of him. Strobe from behind, as you can see from #2 his hand was blocking the strobe.

Thanks dude
