Netball - Last game of 2010These were from the Swifts last game for 2010 - they lost this game and missed the grand final (even though they won every regular season game - Ouch)
These are a little noisy due to the resize/sharpen. They are a lot cleaner at full res. I need to reprocess them in LR and run some NR over them (time is always an issue, isn't it?) C & C Appreciated 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010David, that first one is premo, probably one of your best netball shots, tecnhically its all there, focus is on and good exposure - and the action is great. My only suggestion would be to apply some guassian blur to the peeps in the stands, basically give it a bit just to take the edge of the sharpness of the crowds, this would also make any noise in those darker areas alot less noticeable.
thats not a bad leap by the lady too gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010Brilliant stuff in difficult lighting! Love #3 where all the feet are off the ground!
Dave, Aren't you using the noise reduction in DPP? Only suggestion would be try a slightly (only slightly) higher angle of view. These look like you were crouching in the front.
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010Which ISO is this at?
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010
Thanks Gerry - It's one of my favourites too. Thanks for the tip re the crowd - I'll give it a go
Brazill is incredible - there are not many guys that get up as high as she does.
Nope - I've never played with it enough to get a decent result - I always seem to overdo it
Thanks - The first was from a higher angle (Sitting in a chair). The rest were crouched near the line.
Ranged between 800 and 1600 (As I said - the full size files are better) 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010Leave number one as it is - because the detail in the crowd makes for very interesting observations, look at how many are not watching the action and a great action shot it is. Dont feel too bad at least the Thunderbirds won the GF and it was a cracker of a game too.

Re: Netball - Last game of 2010Thanks Big V,
Were you there? Did you shoot the Grand Final? 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010
exactly, the crowd in this case detracts from the image because there is only a few peeps looking at the action, which makes it look a warmup session or something, if every face was glued to the camera and action then crowd would be awesome imo, hence why i reckon minimising the crowd would be the way too go. gerry's photography journey

I confess - it was during the warmup - Nice pick 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
Re: Netball - Last game of 2010
yeah once you notice it, it sticks out like DB's imo, hence my comment regarding the blurring...here's what I was thinking, quick and dirty... gerry's photography journey
