Very enjoyable morning lads - great to catch up with you guys - thanks Gerry for organising once again...

Again no GND - however not even one HDR today (they were turning out horrible - I even tried the HDR Pro thingy in Photoshop this time). I discovered the gradient filter thingy in Lightroom so had a bit of a play and got much better results just adjusting the single RAW exposure - so not even any multi layer photoshop jobs today.

Firsly Way Pre Dawn - this is that 3 minute exposure I took looking back towards the City - so the ambient light in the sky is coming from the main city. I didn't have my remote so this is a three minute hand hold the shutter button - not ideal but it appears to have basically worked...

Was'nt sure how #1 would turn when I saw you setting up for this shot but it turned out quite different to what I thought it would.
Like the first light the headland. Shame those big goolies in the Pearson shots arnt anywhere to be seen Be a bit inclined to shave a bit more off the bottom
It's interesting to compare your last pano with Gerrys. Your lens can sure squeeze heaps more in

I think we should refer to that 8-16mm bad boy as the pano lens or the one shot wonder

I like the last thre images, the third last works very well since you have picked out some nice lines running across the image, works very well here...

The second last I also like, but left me wanting to see more on both the left and right sides..this possie would be a good candidate for a 3 shot pano. The exposure is also very nice, you have nailed it here, just enough movement in teh water and the sky looks exactly like what it did on teh day...

The pano is also nice, the first few don't really ring my bell...

Good work with the #1. It's got a nice gradation of cool to warm which you should accentuate. I vaguely considered a long exposure here but didn't fancy holding down my thumb on the shutter for several minutes only to find a blurry image.

#3 has good composition and wave action. You could selectively sharpen the waves to define them more.

You know what, #1 is one of the few images that capture the unique vista specific to Long reef. I reckon we all need to return sometime..

Yep I setup some 6x2, 5x2 and 4x2 resize things in Lightroom to use and found these 4x2 crops worked pretty well with these particular images.

D90 appears to have survived thanks - I went out shooting flowers with my daughters yesterday lunchtime and appeared to work fine - fingers crossed

On the topic of Pano cropping, I tend to free crop until I am satisfied...but that makes printing intersting

As a side note, #3 appears to have some magenta casting that I get with some of my filters. Apparently this is some IR phenomena. You didn't use any filters did you? [Or did you change the hues in post?? ]

No Filters but I did warm this up in post (I'm not sure if thats the correct term for what I did - when I'm in front of my Mac and Lightroom I'll have a look at what sliders I moved ) - the sea and spray had a very blue tinge in the original.
