Tonight's Sunset - Getting Published

I was watching the cloud formation all afternoon and had a feeling it could be a good one so I scouted out a site around 4pm to go back to.
Well it turned out to be a cracker with crowds of people lining the river bank to watch it set over Chambers Island.

No Vibrance, no saturation, no LAB colour - just as it was.

Comments welcome on both pics.

It also coloured up back east towards the river mouth although it was obviously more pastel.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I have been contacted by the Sunshine Coast Daily today seeking permission to publish the main pic in tomorrow's paper.

They were alerted to my post and after viewing on line sought a high res. copy and a bit of a story to go with it.

They offered to give me credit - I didn't ask for payment.

Great captures Bob,

as spectacular as the colours are in the fist one, I actually prefer the second one with the row boat and the very nice pastel colours.

Congrats on the publication and story. You should have at least gotten them to give a free delivery for a year :D

cheers,

André

Nicely done BobG! Congratulations.

They are both stellar but the second is an absolute cracker! Love those Pastels. It's great that you had the experience to look away from the sunset. Most would have missed this opportunity.

The water looks like it was pretty still. Otherwise you have done a great job of making the water smooth AND keeping the boat still.

Bob, lovely images. Get ready for a flood of inquiries from people who will be wanting to buy a copy off you.

Thanks guys.

My pic was published as expected in today's paper but as you'd imagine it was low quality print.

There were a few other photographer's who captured it also.

What wasn't apparent in my pic was the blues and purples up higher in the sky which my 24mm focal length and position didn't allow.

There is a prolific and very talented lady who posts on flikr who I've long admired and never had the chance to meet yet.

Well guess what? - she was apparently standing right behind me. :o

Have a look at her pic in this link.

Stunning array of colour. I suppose that is why we take photos, so we can marvel at what nature offers us and share it with other people that weren't there. Lovely.
