40 minutes after sunset ...

I visited the usual spot today and missed the golden rays of the sun by about 5 minutes. There were some good clouds but the color had completely washed out.

There was a pelican on the jetty which didn't run away when I approached so I thought I'd do a few silhouttes etc. 40 minutes (or more!) after the sun had set, the colors began to reappear about 60 degrees to the left where the sun had set.

Single shot  and I tried a different composition (by this time even the Pelican had left)

I have heard that the best colors can be seen before a sunrise and after a sunset, but this is the first time I have noticed a medicore sunset showing quite an improvement.

For your critique as usual. Thanks for looking.

Nice, I am liking this one alot Suren, it is probably the best of all your squids ink images. As always I reckon a pano crop (a fraction off the bottom and more off the top) would work well, however I am pano obsessed ...

Thanks Gerry and Gary.

I have attempted the suggested crop and it looks significantly better. One of the reasons that I posted here was that I had a queasy unbalanced feeling about this and didn't know how to improve it.

I can of course return and retry with a different composition. I am kicking myself that I didn't go any closer on this day.

A very good looking image!!

I agree about the pano crop suggestion as well. This viewpoint of the jetty works a lot better than the last set.

On a side note Suren, you have nailed the sharpness in this image - it looks very nice sharp and at that size avoids teh forum resize issue.

Really nice image.

If you wanted to reduce the amount of crop as requested above, you could edit out the shiny plate in the middle of the jetty. It's quite distracting. Then maybe a small crop at the bottom and off the right and you're there.

My 2c.
