Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

I took this photograph a couple of years ago and I decided to remove the
colour and make it in black and white. I think it gives the subject mystique
and enigma. What do you think?

Its a very nice shot, the eyes are very captivating, however, and this is purely me (and subjective), the head covering scarf is just a complete turn off.

Very nice indeed!

Only suggestion is to try a pano crop and sharpen eyes. Very evocative portrait.

Thank you all for the comments. Here is the reduced size of the
original and a 2nd version of the black and white as suggested by
surenj...

Indeed an excellent shot that is reminiscent of the famous Afghan girl shot by a National Geographic photographer.

Bingo, I was thinking exactly the same!

not sure if you get a chance to shoot again - like the B/W but the beautiful blue eyes have been lost and the red overpowers them

Interesting. I suppose the next logical step is to desaturate the red shoal and supersaturate the blue eyes and see.

Now, in the course of this exercise I found that I cannot desaturate the
red alone because there is a red reflection on the lady's face and it does
not look natural. Saturating the eyes alone gives an artificial look. So, this
is my best considering my limited Photoshop skills.

They are just such nice eyes and so crisp ...if you are playing around give this a try OK this may not float your boat but try going back to the b/w version and layering in the colored eyes -
DebT PS the original B/W probably has the most character as a mystical shot

I like the 2nd B&W with the closer crop. Do try the coloured eyes, it may work on this image

I think it is a very interesting look. I think the eyes need to be brightened a bit, but it will definitely be a very personal choice.

I like the first crop the most, in the later ones you appear to be losing definition in her right eye.
