I really like the third image, great foreground and skyline and an awesome sky and clouds to boot. Watch teh d-lighting or equiv. there though you can see quite a bit of halos/glow around buildings etc. I reckon also cropping a fraction of the top, just above the white cloud would work a treat.

You're probably right about cropping down from the top. You're right about the artifacts, too. Not D-Lighting, though, which I've never used - that's only for JPegs I think, not RAW. It is mainly a blended HDR in CS5. When I get the time I'll have to wind it back to see whether I can improve it.

Artifacts corrected and recropped. I expected the artifacts would be due to HDR or pano but it was just an imprecise mask that did not show until later processing in another copy of the image. You were quite right about cropping it down, I'd thought of that but I think I had been a little too attached to keeping Venus in the frame (you can just see it in the earlier version at top left).

It's actually 27MP, made from 28 images (though I may not have used some) and the second-last file got to 2.3GB after the corrections.

Though I usually print on Ilford Gold Fibre Silk, I think I might try this on Pictorico High Gloss White Film. That's a very high gloss surface, similar to Cibachrome glossy.

Really liking that rework. Would be great as a LARGE wall hanging I think.

The reworked version is about 200% better imo. there is still some traces of halos however i would not pick it unless I was looking hard!

I can only assume to get the print size? it does not look like a huge FOV. Were they all portrait orientation? or did you have a 9 bracket per image?

I am guessing that he has done two rows or something?? 10 pictures on telephoto? 5 on each row?

There were five images combined for the pano. Each was an HDR comprising 6 images, though I must have deleted a few as not having anything to contribute. Each exposure was from a 105mm lens in portrait on a full-frame sensor. I suppose printing large was the implicit objective. I used to use (and still have) a 6x17 panorama camera. I just wanted to see what I could get.

In the old days of the fume room, the ultimate colour printing medium was Cibachrome (later ilfochrome). Cibachrome glossy was actually a plastic rather than a paper and gave great details and great colour. Pictorico HGWF (not available in Australia) has I understand the same base as Cibachrome glossy. The Ilford GFS that I normally use is a baryta paper, only available for a few years and said to reproduce the effect of semigloss papers in the chemical darkroom.
