I like the concept. See some commercial uses for it. Nice one...

Nice tricks with the DOF and focus here! Love it. Interesting blue , yellow color scheme.

I came back to this a couple of times, liking the image but thinking something was distracting. I'd like to see it in b&w.

I found teh same and could not quite put my finger on it.

However I reckon the composition could be adjusted to help the viewer (bear in mind this is just me) and lead them in, I think having a leading line of sorts and separating the image into thirds would work, heres what I am thinking, based on your image - usual comments apply, if you want it removed just say so.

The OOF disappearing third on teh bottom left and the opposing dark third on teh top right balance the image out and the edge of teh paper leads and the focused area draw the viewer in, the tight crop ( not by choice in my case :) ) gets more in ya face. Thoughts, comments?

on a side note Chris, that image
Chris - circa 1972
on ur smugmug is awesome - people would pay very good money for that shirt and those pants nowadays!

Simple and excellent Chris. You don't work for OPSM do you? If so, some of our referees could use some help... :)
