Not something I've really toyed with before, but it was POURING rain where I am today and under the balcony the light seemed pretty nice for a photo or two..and I was the only one around. So I took a few..and here they are. Constructive criticism welcomed:

These were all shot at ISO 200 (I think), aperture priority and no flash and with the 50mm 1.4 (@ approx 5.6). Slight LR adjustments and sharpening..but not much.

Cheers.

As per DSLRusers tradition now, another member bareing his chest for self portraits (its been a while). I prefer the two with eye contact as there are a little more engaging.

Geoff, you are very brave posting self portraits for critique!

The window light is nice and soft like an enormous softbox or something.

I do prefer the last one with it's BW treatment. The color ones don't come together as the greens, blues and skin tones are a little discordant.

#3 does it for me. The colour is just right plus the ‘look’ is spot on.

Jeez, the warders must be real cool to let you out without supervision

Thanks guys, brave or stupid to post self portraits..who knows, at least they weren't nude..eeew!
Appreciate the feedback.
I purposely didn't smile as I feel I always smile when people take photos of me, so I thought a serious tone was worth a try.

I can see the images now....funny work computers

I have to admit the first is my favourite, I am just wondering what is on your mind, what are you thinking about. It is a picture that engages me. I didnt like the colour images as much, and the last just lacked the extra appeal.

Great to see someone brave enough to post a self portrait, I avoid being in photos let alone taking them of myselF!
