I went hiking with a friends a few weekends ago. Was glad I brought my camera, well that's what I kept telling myself in order to keep going - I was the foolish one with a heavy back pack hiking over some pretty rough terrain.

My ankle gave way in the process of me taking a leap of faith, but the photos made the trip more than worthwhile.

looks like you had a great day out, even with the bad ankle.

You certainly have a great selection of b&w photos from the Grampians. I like some of your water shots and the third one in this series is my favourite of these four.

I have had a number of looks at this series of images and the standouts are by far 2 and 3, this is a result of the composition in my opinion.

However, the BW conversion does not add to the images for me, each time I have looked at them I have immediately felt like seeing the colour version, taking the 2nd and 3rd images for instance, both appear to have very nice contrasting cloud and blue sky, this i reckon would look very nice in colour. If the images are particularly drab (from a colour perspective) then the BW conversion is probably appropriate, however in the 3rd image the rocks may have some nice colours to contribute.

with that said I am not typically a fan of BW bush landscapes so that could also be influencing me.

Also, lookign at your linked series images 16 and 19 are very nice too and probably out shine the ones posted - for me anyway!
