Have to say I like the softer tones of 1 and 4 the best Gerry.
I'm busy cleaning the sewerage out of my sensor :)

I really love #1. Great fore and background. I completely missed this one and only vaguely noticed it when walking back.

You photos have a characteristic 'look' with the tones. It is pseudo HDR warmish highpass like look.... Is that the D-lighting??

yeah, the 4th image was actually my first shot and was mainly just a test shot, but that and the first image were at the tail end of the premo light stage which I did not capitalise on cause I was swapping lens and 'umming' and 'ahhhing', it always takes me awhile to get in the groove.

I had grand ideas for that first and last one but the fell by the wayside as the light intensity increased.

I do apply quite a bit of warmth, sometimes not globally either, I find teh AWB misses it on these types of shots, this is typically coupled with a slight amount of tonal contrast which 'can' give a slight hdr look.

That has given me an idea - we need to organise a day where not only do we bang out a few sunrise pictures but then we do a bit PP together, this would be a great way to share ideas etc. Actually it would be really neat if participants brought along a good picture which had been processed and they could share the PP technique for that image. Let me know if your keen and I will give it some more thought.

Sounds like a good idea but I think we need to share more about the settings and techniques we use individually to capture the images on the day particularly using filters to the best effect. I think we are so busy (given there is not a lot of time) capturing images that we forget to share and therefore improve our technique.

We could also organise a portrait shoot now that we have 2 little people that we could use as subject matter. :)

I like the deep blues and warm stone in #2 the most.

True, I often find it takes me quite some time to warm up when taking images, some of my best are taken towards the end of a shoot, mainly since I start seeing more from a photgraphic POV, this is also a result of I don't really know what I want from the morning or the type of image.

I also do not try to intrude too much into other peoples zones when taking images, some people are not keen on being asked questions when they are making art  That said I have no problems with people asking me what I am doing and how I am using my filters, bear in mind I am only one step above a babbling mess at that time of the morning so expect the appropriate results :rotfl2:

speakign of a babbling mess, you might get more sense from her than me! plus they move damn fast when they want to and don't understand what sit still and smile for teh camera means :?

I am keen on the portrait shoot tho!
