It is a magnificent portrait. I love the lady's expression
which makes the photograph so compelling. I also like
the wrinkles and their kind stare at the camera. It is one
of those portrait in which the subjects may not lool their
best, but they look natural and show character. It makes
you feel as you know them. Well done!

Fantastic portrait Ozimax... what a couple...

If anything could improve it, I might shave a little off the top and the right to accentuate the height difference. ??? maybe

Besides the very colourful characters in the first I think people may have over looked the importance of the background, the non-descript brick home with the neatly pruned garden comliments this picture just perfectly. Top stuff and if I was choosing potw, this would be it!

Thanks all for the comments.

This is the classic battler couple from the west. Poor as church mice, both with severe illness, they were married later in life and live in a tiny housing commission flat. They are so happy that I take the time to visit them (usually once a year when I'm down south) and treat me like royalty! They really are special people and I am honoured to be their friend.

As my neighbour Geoffrey Lee often says, there are 7 billion stories to photograph in this world - get out and do it.

Oz,

The first image here is a wonderful example of people photography. Done good, too.

It defies many of the rules that we often use in making our images, and by breaking those rules, you have created an image that is very special in so many ways. The only (very minor) criticism I can offer is that I'd like to see the hands (fully) in the image.

Please tell me that you're giving a print of this to the couple?

As to the chicken ... I'm glad that the duck's off. :)

I know those faces...
they are a lovely couple and Brian is always up for a chat. Since leaving the Radio Station though I havent seen either of them for a while so it was nice to log on and see them here.

Lovely shot Ozi... and its still wet down here!

You are correct Jonesy, nice folk indeed. They are both struggling health wise ATM with some serious problems, which is why you most probably haven't seen Brian for a while.

As for the rain, hey, last week I took to sleeping in the fridge to keep warm. That's how cold it was!
