A gibbon was born at the Adelaide Zoo, much to the keepers surprise. It was on show for two days but unfortunately it did not survive... So these are the only shots I will get to take of it.

Virgs - sad news indeed :(

At least we got to see the proud parents and baby gibbon interact before the new born died.

Mother seems so gentle, so sad...as if she senses her baby is not well. Poignant, beautiful images.

That is very sad indeed! Do you know why the baby didnt survive??

I'm actually interested as to why it was on display so early in life. I didnt think it was the norm for zoos

The Zoo's Births, Deaths and Marriages blog has a couple of shots and some more background.

Great series with #1 being my favourite.

Looks like you will get another chance. They are hoping for another pregnancy soon!
