ive been using a Profoto Ringflash on the Profoto Acute System http://www.profoto.com/acuted4-ring for fashion week in New York
1st impressions is that its a compact solution and it allows me to shoot faster since i dont have to worry about light off camera light position, im not a big fan of omnidirectional light but for the red carpet it's light wrap is 1 step better than a speedlight
Instead of harsh shadows it creates an even shadow halo around the subjects and has a nice light wrap around the subjects faces

The omni-directional look is different. I am not sure if I could shoot every shot wiht it though

Great stuff Wendell. This would be most useful especially if you didn't have an assistant etc...Much much better than oncamera flash of any other kind.

I can see the benefits of a omni directional light here, there are no harsh shadows and as you mentioned and it 'wraps' around nicely!

On the first three images it looks like one corner of the image is over exposed/brighter than the others, is this the light or something else?

The second image is very nice - looks like a really easy model to work with  The first looks a bit bland from a composition pov.

The Profoto Acute is darn heavy though 1.8kgs :!: - Wendell, those biceps must be looking good now!
