Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I had previously shot some Dandelion seed heads with a macro lens and during post processing of those images I had felt I had got the basic composition right (angle of view, framing, etc) but I had felt that I had used too small a depth of field for the image I'd wanted so I had planned to shoot one again when the chance presented itself. In this instance I have two versions - the first focuses again on the outer surface of the seed head with a much smaller aperture (f/16) this time to try and increase the depth of field and get more of the ball sharp.  The second actually uses a wider aperture (f/5.6) for a smaller depth of field but this time I manually focused more towards the inner stems and heart of the seed head so that the outer "fluff" would be softer and the heart and the long stems of the seeds would be sharper.  I'd really be quite interested to see which of the two (if any) people prefer - both the composition selection (area of focus and depth of field) and also the post processing technique - the first has a more natural black and white conversion whereas the second has a moonlit feel. Well I quite like #1......I Think it looks fantastic imo. it has an arty look to it, something i can see hung up on a white wall, it captured my attention for quite sometime, where as the second hadn't caught my interest as much, but still an awesome effort none the less!!

#1 for me, but I wouldnt mind seeing #2 with the contrast of like in #1

well done with the re working!! it looks more appealing to me now and i like them both now, your re working brought more detail out in it, so yeah kudos!!
