Hello, its been quite sometime since i last had an opportunity to post any images, I've been flat out with sick children, and getting a house ready for sale. A friend of mine had a baby 2 weeks ago and I asked if I could take a few pictures. I had a chance to look over them, and I really like these images. I am new at portrait photography and would love some CC on these images, I really want to learn and hone in my skills and become all I can be. So here are the images I liked. Thanks for looking.

Kristen,

I like the soft light in these. Very appropriate.

#1 I like how you have shown the relationship between the two.

Watch the soft face in #2. Is this purely due to some resizing or a mild DOF field issue?

Generally with newborns you get browny points if you can get them with eyes open... Easier said than done.

Do you have any high key ones; esp lighter backgrounds?

Not sure about the DOF I will take a closer look at it. This little bubs is an angel for his mummy, sleeps and eats, i heard him cry once and that was due to me moving him about....even the crying shots i got of him his eyes were closed!! But on the rare occasion his eyes are seen open its like his eye lids are so chubby you can barely make out that he has them open!!
I do plan on a re shoot with a white background, hoping it may work out better, if i do some PP to the individual shot i might get a little more detail in the back drop but its a black muslin back drop so it's hard to really see much of it without doing some PP.
But thanks for your comments, The mother and son shot i thought was unique, i loved the lighting i had and how her hands looked in the lighting, the light and dark points i thought were great, but i think the DOF on both on my screen were pretty sharp, so it might be a resizing issue maybe? :)

It is great to see some photos from you. I am going to forget about the softness (resizing issues....) but otherwise you are doing really well. Shame about the eyes, but it cant be helped unless you have the time to sit and wait.

I dont mind the dark backgrounds, I like how they really push your attention to the mother and child...which is a classic image!
