I really like that one, Mic. Stark realism and abstract in the same subject. And great colour. (The Sp., I think I'm starting to turn Australian.)

Onyx, Looks like it's poking it's tongue out at Youuuu !

Steve  Glad you like, is it nice & yellow on your monitor with a bright red stamin ?

On my work monitor it looks pretty dull, on my Mac at home it jumps out at ya !

Thanks,

Mic.

A very deep gold color, Mic, with a few drifts of orange here and there.
Very rich. :D

The bit with the purple gradient has got me wondering if we are all seeing different things when we're looking at each other's pictures. Surely we've all got pretty good equipment. There must be a reasonable explanation like an optical illusion or what-not. Maybe we've got someone on board who can figure it out and explain it to the rest of us.

Ok, just a guess, but my thoughts on the purple bits -
Possibly hot sopts (glare)? Perhaps the hot spots have washed out certain parts of the stamen and are showing up as purple, an inverse to the golden colours of the majority of the photo. As I say, just a guess.
Don't get me wrong - not a criticism, it's a really interesting effect. Nice pic overall too!

And Oh I wish I had a lens like that!

tasadam -

Apologies from Mic and from me for changing the subject on you to a topic from yesterday and before; "A Gradient Conversion. What The !"
Mic posted a purple gradient and most people saw only gray (or grey) on their monitors. Mic saw gray on his monitor at work and purple at home. Anyway it kinda got us thinking about what all of us have been looking at.

Sorry for throwing you and others a curveball.

Cheers.
Steve

mic - great shot, sensational, and using the lens I just got, inspiring!!

Steve, nice work on the spelling (colour), you are officially fair dinkum.

Re the colour thing, I might make or get a chart with identifiable colours (none of this "a bit purple" or "slightly grey" crap), post it, and everybody can see what the colours look like on their monitors.

Sounds like a great idea, Greg. I applaud the effort.

What a lovely shot - I think great things can be done with extreme DOF. I can see that it is part of a flower but at the same time it makes me think of and insect head popping up to look at the camera - like someone said realism and abstration in one image - FAB!
