I just used a ND soft grad (4 stopper) and bracketed -2, 0, +2 and combined the best exposures in PS.If you are confident with your filters you can make this in camera as long as your grad is nicely level and sensor has enough overexposure latitude. I personally slightly overexpose (a few blown highlights) and pull back in post. Use the underexposed shot for color as this saturates it quite nicely.
