and why?
Im trying this whole pushing saturation to crazy levels (selectively, and in confjunction with lifting lightness, lifting shadows, then nudging selectted channels up and piling it up till i see something i like.)
what do you think? i keep finding myself resisting super saturation, but then i look at other photographers images that i realllly like and realise theyre saturated to the ends of the earth!

I prefer first one because second one is oversaturated in my taste. First waterfall and it's environment look more natural to me

I like the second one except for the green ferns turned red.
Maybe try bumping the red down a bit.

I think you've got a good start on what you want, Darb. I think the reason the second one doesn't quite work is because the top third of the image is a little light (and bright) to begin with.
IMO if you could do some kind of gradient darkening on that top part and then saturate its color you might just have it.

Initially the original/first one, re: the later (third) one, if the blue was corrected on the various rocks the third might be the one, but the colors are just a bit strong for me...
Beautiful waterfall though...

The second one looked like it got slimed. The green is way too strong and comes across like nucular fallout (thanks GW). Perhaps try a slight hue change on the green and then super saturate.

I like the first one. The second one looks unnatural - sorta like the plastic stuff you see in aquarium shops to stick in fish tanks!

I prefer the first natural looking one, the others look a bit like theres a big UV light out of view up top and everything is fluorescing! The water has turned a bit too blue as well I think, no doubt due to being illuminated by blue sky.
I think the first one is a relaxing peaceful scene, the colours are fine to my eye, but the supersaturation detracts from this.
