I quite like the second one. More of a vertical pano look and I love oversaturated images.

First one is better for me since, again, the second one looks unnatural. Maybe the trick is to make the greens darker, rather than more saturated and the water more purple?

im sticking to a 12 x 4 aspect ratio so if i widen i also increase length ... the sky above the current crop is bright and ugly, so i guess i can put an extra couple hundred pixels of length along the bottom ... keeping the top where it is, if that looks unco tho im not sure

Darb, I think the problem ( if you could call it that ) With being so long the bottom bit of the water looks likes itls been duplicated from the top or mirrored.
I think Crop it 3/4 the way down
