Hi There
Well, I've just signed up to the forums and thought i'd upload a pic on the spot as i'd love to hear your thoughts. Went into the the city of Sydney last week with mates and took some shots. This is one of the images taken from that adventure. I've post edited the shot and as said would love to hear what you think
Looking forward to hearing from you all hehe.

Hi There.
I don't mind the processing on this one, the tonal contrast is nice and teh BW conversion ok. The vignetting needs to be backed off by about 50% and you have lost the detail in the sails point on the top RH. Also from a composition POV, giving it some more space would help imo.
So now some questions for you, what were you trying to achieve with the shot? what are you trying convey to the viewer of the image?

First of all, welcome, you will find this a fantastic forum, Well in regards to this shot, i really like the tones and the clarity of the sail and I do agree with Biggerry that the vignette could be dropped back by around 50, how long have you been interested in Photography - a bit of back ground info would be nice, so that if your a hobby photographer or trying to take the next step we might be able to critique things a little further etc. Keep up the work and I look forward to future images!
Also please put in a location as soon as possible please! thanks

Yes please; it's a requirement of membership.
I am not a fan of the vignetting that you've applied here. Apart from being too heavy, I'm wondering what the purpose of it was. What outcome were you trying to achieve with the vignetting?
Sharpness, etc, in your post is otherwise quite good.

Welcome to the forum.
Like the others I'm no fan of the vignetting either. The problem, as Gerry mentions, is that it obscures the tip of the sail. If the crop was wider then the vignetting would be less in your face (although it probably is still too much), but the tight crop really makes you notice it.
As for the image - it's a good shot and I like the conversion you've done - the sail detail in the tiles is great. I happen to like the tight crop as well. Nature was on your side too since you have clouds behind the sail rather than flat boring sky.

Agree - love the monochrome processing and the detail you get in the sails is great.
I don't mind the darker sky but I think it would have to be done to all of the sky and just the sky (i.e. not a vignette on the sail).

A dramatic shot, helped by the creative processing. Just lighten the top right hand tip a little and it would be perfect.
