Finally I have some penguin shots processed from my Antarctic trip last November. It's taken a while and I'm only about half way through, but below is a sample. There are heaps more in my gallery HERE

:agree: 3 and 4 would look good in another thread, but with the first 2 images they just don't cut it. That second one especially is absolutely brilliant!

:agree:

as with any subject that is substantially smaller than ones self it is soo important to get down to their level. You have done this with the first two (or been far away enough) and as a result teh composition is perfect, the last two are not on par but I believe could have been improved with a lower POV.

I love the second Peter, great composition, dof perfect. The others are great too but for me, the second is the standout.

Cheers,

AndrĂ© PS: had a look at the gallery, you also have some other great shots in there. The one with the three penguins is very good too.

Excellent. I feel you the first picture would be
better with a crop leaving the first half penguin
and the second out.
They are excellent. I love the second one.

this is an awesome set
especially the way you got the mountain in the background it really puts things in context

exactly how close are you allowed to get to these penguins i dont mean close enough to touch but close enough to get a real intimate shot with the 14-24mm

one day i want to get as close as i can

tell us about the migration of these penguins at south georgia

Wendell,

We are allowed to get as close as 5m. However, the penguins don't know the rules, they come as close as they want, it is their place after-all. I had some peck at my boots, elbows, one even looking down the barrel of my 200-400 8) Certainly too close to focus that baby!

It is an amazing place for wildlife.

#1 is an absolute cracker!! WOW.

These penguins seem to have interesting behaviour. Hope you didn't bump into the ones from Madagascar though.

Very nice, Peter must have been an awesome trip. The second images is my favorite closely followed by the first.
