Recent shearing. Around 30 mins from home.

it's a very slight shame that we can't see the face of the gentleman n the second of these.

The third of these is great; a wonderful, contextual portrait. You've nailed the wb, focus is spot on, great subject isolation but keeping the sheep in the background to provide the context.

Excellent work.

:agree: Very nice images indeed.

I really like the action in no.2 and the shape of the fleece in the air still looks like a sheep (and of one that is trying to run away) :rotfl2:

No.3 is such a great Australiana image. Pretty young Jillaroo with the sheep and the bush in the background, nicely OOF to seperate them from the focus of the photo (but with still enough detail to complete the story).

Terrific !

I agree. Number 3 gives us a great sense of context and is a lovely, natural shot of the girl.

#3 is the best. I feel the flash in the first
is too strong.

I agree, with the only thing in my mind to make it better would be for her to be angled into the frame rather than out of it.

The shearing images are nice but the flash looks harsh, any options to bounce the flash? that roof looks in good shape and the tin would make a nice reflector

I promised I'd keep out of the way of the workers so it was a matter of rushing in for a shot and get out before I got in someone's way or was trampled. 6 shearers, 3 roustabouts, 2 classers, 1 on the press and several others in the background, all buzzing around like blue a*** flies.

Another of the Jillaroo/daughter, (where it was much more quiet) who's actually home on holidays from the Kimberly region where she is a nurse in an indigenous community.

I really like that last portrait - looks like you spent some time talking to her eh?

Just for my own exercise I edited your version to lighten up the face and put a touch of glamour in there - I think the original is a bit dark especially when compared to your first posted one. Let me know if you want it removed.

Prefer the 3rd one out of this series. The sheep in the background provide context otherwise it looks like you've just picked a pretty girl and stuck an Akubra on her...

Actually, Piro, you've caught me out  Though pretty outback girls wearing an Akubra are as common in our parts as a King Brown in a chook pen, cotton farming is the main industry, with much less wool growing.

You see, this is where you caught me. I always carry with me a small mob of sheep for when I spot one of the many local, Akubra wearing pretty girls, so I can then stick them behind the girl and shoot a frame or three before she has time to know what's happened.

I get some funny looks constantly carrying the sheep around in the back of the 4x4 and local tongues are regularly wagging with terrible rumour, but hell, a man gotta do what a man gotta do to get that 'sweeter than a honey ant' shot. Don't ya think?
