For the afternoon Colin took us to this fantastic rainforest at Blackheath and with macro lenses equipped along with various strobes and light modifiers we were all shooting all manner of fungi - I really hadn't realised how tiny some of these things were

I also learnt about shooting past f/16

This last shot was taken at an extremely small aperture (f/57) using the on board flash as a commander through a flash diffuser triggering two remote Nikon flashes (an SB-600 close to the right with a Gary Fong style attachment and an SB-800 to the left) - thanks Cameron and Colin

The last two are stunners!

Top stuff, and to think these are all Macro fungi. You can't even see Micro fungi with the naked eye from memory.

Thats just insane!

What isn't immediately apparent from these images is just how small these fungi are - I had no idea we were searching for things this tiny in the forest - they are practically impossible to notice with the naked eye - it was lucky we had you as an experienced fungi shooter

The orange topped ones above were perhaps only 1 or 2 mm across the cap and in the last shot (the last shot of the day) the larger of the shrooms here was probably one of the largest of the day and it would easily be less than 1cm across!

I can just picture you guys down on your knees and babbling with excitement over some near invisible low life of a fungus. That's what photography does to sane men. Great shots, nice technique!

I was very tempted to snap Colin, Rodney and Gerry all lined up photographing different bits of fungi behind a log....now I am sorry I didnt

My back has been reminding me all day yesterday and today...way too old and increpit for this sorta stuff. That's
why a skulked off to the creek
You've done a great job on these Rodney. Particularly like the last 2.
Doesnt it bug you when you get these up on the big screen and notice the cobwebs that you didnt see when taking the shot

if it makes you feel any better - I certainly have a few stiff muscles today man google is gonna have field day here!

Rodney, I would like to see the second last one locally brightened up a bit, just so it matches the exposure of the last one, which imo is very nice.
