Its another world out there now that I know where to look for this minute forest of alien brackets, stems, gills, toadstools... I am sure some of those are technical terms.

After discussions with Colin, I have decided to take the approach of trying to capture this world in an artistic form rather than a record of images to identify these things.

Critique and suggestions more than welcome.

I love the colour contrasts in this one...




I could have fooled myself into thinking I was looking thru a pair of snorkelling goggles when looking at this thing - looks like it belongs at the bottom of the ocean..

Gerry, very artistic! I think we all had a field day on the variety of fungi that we were presented with!

I love the colours of #1, but the blood red of #4 may be a bit too saturated. #2 has great detail in the 'gills' and I totally agree about the purple coral!

Wow Gerry the lighting on the purple coral is great.

I don't envy the person who has to pick the next POTW after looking at all the photos posted (so far) from the meet. There's some great shots from everyone!

Love the composition in #1 but I think that bright stem smack in the middle in the background could go.

#2 is fantastic - the detail underneath and the lighting.

yeah, its always hard to nail (PP wise) shots with alot of red in them, alittle bit of brightness and contrast often turns them into a nasty mess.

I have already upgraded my A4 paper diffuser! once you get the diffuser in the right place the flash light is very nice and on dry subjects like this one it rocks!

good point, did not even notice that, but in hindsight it would look better without it.
