Spied this view on the way out ...

After everyone else had left, I went back down to the river. The sun was getting lower in the sky, and the river had become pretty still. The reflections were IMO awesome.

I like your color version of the glass and wine bottle, its amazing how different our shots turned out, I love yours they look fantastic IMO. Glad to see you stuck around a bit longer and enjoyed some reflections, the river looks amazing when its still and the reflections can become so clear and sharp. I really really like your 2nd image, I like the white balance, the clouds aren't over done at all and I think you've done an awesome job! How were little Joshy's pics?? he was such a good little guy to come along! He's got a keen eye!! :)

That tower really does it for me! Can anyone shed some light on its history/design?

#2 stands out for me....

I am torn between the colour and the B &W versions of the wine bottle....maybe I am in a bit of a black and white mood...but the mono version wins by a whisker

I like #3 , the BW version doesn't cut it from my end - the dead straight line created by the building and the path leading up to the tower make work for me

either or, however straighten it up!

I actually like #4 on your smug site, something different and good pattern of bottles.

I used my 50mm 1.4 for the basket shots, with a really low aperture. That might be part of the difference. Thanks for your comments Kristen.

We have had a first pass through Josh's photos, will get the final set out today, and post some up. He really enjoyed the day.

The tower was certainly impressive - a real centrepiece of the complex. You could see it from the front gate as you drove in, and wound your way through the vines to the cellar door. The following URL gives some info about the overall history of the place. It states that the winery opened in 1974, including the tower designed by Australian architect Ted Ashton.

Thanks all for your comments. Gerry, I have straightened the bottles  I didnn't pick that before you pointed it out ...
