Hi everyone,

Some photos of friends playing pool at a pool hall (instead of playing tennis  ) photographed last night using a 50mm 1.8 Series E lens (full manual, no metering )

Some colour balancing had to be adjusted as everyone was looking a bit pale under the fluorescent lighting.

Pot me first!

I'm all alone. There's no one here beside me.

As always, all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheerio,

Nice shots! Difficult to get creative with a pool table.

I tried a few other shots where i had the shutter open for about a second, but with no tripod and doing my best to steady myself on a stool, they didn't turn out so well. I was experimenting to see if I could photograph the path of the balls. :)

Yeh I thought they were dark at first as well, but it was the atmosphere of the place that I wanted to capture the most. Pool alleys/halls are usually quite dark in terms of ambient lighting. The only main lights come from the fluoros above the tables :) I like this type of effect a lot as it helps draw the attention to the people or the balls, depending on what is being captured. :D

Cheers,

Wayne

Very nice stuff Piro, like them a lot, the green felt and coloured balls make for some spectacular colouring, Max

Nice shots Pirostitch... but I think you'll find that's actually Snooker that they are playing...
Pool only has balls of 2 colours / patterns & a black.
Snooker has 15 reds, 1 black, 1 pink, 1 blue, 1 brown, 1 green & 1 yellow balls...

Piro - you have captured in your shots a beautiful feeling of dark, smokey rooms, where snooker and billiards are played - excellent :D

They're great mate. Nice composition, great colours and well thought out depth of field. Great all-round photos. Well done.
