This is a macro shot i did after rains last week. The red/purple is enhanced a little from the original but not a long way from the original. What should i have done different?

Now onto the picture, what could you have done differently? a million things I guess, are you happy with the image? what are you trying to portray? Do you think it has enough depth? (not DOF either)

In hindsight, I would have looked at trying to get the vein of the leaf at an angle so it intersects the bottom RH corner - this could also be achieved on that image with some rotation and crop, it might also separate the image into thirds too.

I agree with Gerry here.......What were you trying to acheive or what did you want to be different?

It has been said twice already, but it bears repeating.
For this type of photography, you need a goal. Without that you cannot achieve it. Without knowing what it was, we cannot really comment.
For example:
"I want to take a photo of a rose bush"
Answer: step back and stop down

"I want to photograph that bee"
Answer: make sure it is in shot when you squeeze the trigger

"I want an 'arty' photo to go with my decor"
Answer: You have largely achieved this, depending on your decor. Perhaps lower the ISO to reduce the evident noise (or reduce it in Post), and perhaps blur the in focus object in the lower right corner.

and so on.

Actually, with all photography you need a goal, but it is generally self evident: "I want to show off the bride's dress", "I want to record my holiday", "I want to get people to buy this product" and so on.

Oh and as Gerry says, learn to embed the photo so people don't have to navigate away in order to see it.
In general you use the syntax
Code: Select all
[img]htttp://WebAddressOf/Photo.jpg[/img]

See Gerry's link for how to get the photo's address from Flickr. Hint, you use the bbCode version.

:agree: This will go nicely on large canvas.

Keep em coming.
