I just read up on this, I wish I had known earlier, I would have entered in some images to that flickr group, this would have a been a great post in the events section!

Horizon is very noticeably not straight
The subject (I assume newie) feels very small in teh frame, however I do like the road leading inot the image. I would consider a crop to increase the effect of the road leading to the city, this would also fix the other naturally occuring issue I have with the image, which is, the position of the pole and the rock jetty makes it look like a pole, a rope and a bad clone job

Horizon is a bit off in this one also - the composition is quite nice, but the window frame (s) do not enhance the shot for me. The road leads nicely to the city an dthe city is also nicely distinguishable.

I jump straight to the lamp on the left, I reckon if this was cloned out and the horizon straightened this would be a very appealing image.
