Sunrise... and not the usual seascape one might have been expecting , this image was actually taken looking out my bedroom window towards one of the large radio towers in the distance that we have here on the north shore of Sydney.

Nice shot! - Good framing - I like it

I think the bird adds alot to this shot. Nice urban sunrise. I think the colors and silhoutte go well together. Nicely spotted.

Thanks - waiting for that bird was a killer - I actually had a number of other shots with a number of small birds but I had to wait to get just one that was a bit larger and with a good wing silhouette. However the 30 second setup at the window far outweighed the usual sunrise shoot setup - 1hr drive, 30min scramble with tripod in the dark over dangerous seaside rocks

I reckon you should try a time lapse setup with this one with the sunrising etc.... Could do it from the safety of your room!

Interesting idea - might have to invest in something like a promote control or something - anyone know if there is a similar equivalent (which supports Nikon) which isn't like $300!!

I alos like this one Rodney, glad you waited for the larger bird.

Check in ebay, there is plenty of remotes for less than $50 which will support intervelometer function.

Yep although I'm thinking if I bother to get a remote it would be nice to have one of those ones which can do other stuff as well - e.g. 9 shot brackets at whatever stop interval, etc.

Who knows after this mornings fun I might need a new camera as well

I have thought of whether it's possible to change shutter, aperture, and ISO using a remote......

Good news for you...Phottix .....bad news about that Nikon remote....it doesnt support the D90!

Yep, Phottix has one and so does Linkdelight (only $25 or so!). I don't think it can do those brackets that you want.

The Nikon MC-36 Timer remote uses the 10-pin port not the 4-pin port that the smaller bodies use. The ironic thing is that most of the higher end bodies have a built in intervalometer

Hmm. Perhaps it's the option of sitting down on your camper chair and fiddling your remote rather than fiddling the camera (which may introduce camera shake etc) that makes the remote desirable for a high-end body?
