Finally Some fringe

Well the Adelaide fringe is finished for another year and this has been a great event for me on a personal level. This year many of the artists invited me to shoot behind the scenes for them and what a treat and honour that was. The down side is trying to select some favourites from the thousands of frames over the last four weeks. So I have decided to share these ones because they are so different to what I was able to do last year.

For those who are inclined, here is a small gallery of the event

I must also thank Deb for the generous loan of the 85mm 1.2 lens - it saved my bacon on many an occasion and is just such a nice lens to use in low low light - one event was 6400 ISO at 1.2 at 40th of a second!

I love #3 - although I wish the back of the jacket wasn't quite so blown out.

Some very nice shots there BigV, the shots of the lady with teh red curly hair are particularly nice, I also had a good chuckle at the large black (not politically correct term, but without knowing his country of origin this is hopefully appropriate) man dressed as a woman and wearing the bright red lippy!

Looks like a great time and its good to see you are happy with the sessions on a personal level

The man with the ciggy - the only thing that immediately jumped out at me was it felt a bit tight, it would have been nice to see his arm and teh top of his head in teh frame.

Loving all these.

The ciggy shot is the pick of the bunch.

Awesome work Tony. #1 and #3 are killer shots, and I think you've got a few more hidden away as well...

I have to thank Deb as well, for inducing Canon envy with that 85 1.2

Kev, you are correct there are many in the folders from the event that are keepers. What can I say about that lens - it is awesome and a life saver in those "dark locations" we had to shoot in. It is a pity I cant show those shots as it demonstrates how good it is.
As for the blown highlight - yup it is distracting but given the rest of the image and the fact it was a scene out of the show I am happy with the "essence" of the shot as it sums up nicely what was going on at the time.
If I was to have the luxury of shooting the show again, I would have been in a better position and could have been slightly further back but the performer walked off the stage to the bar as part of the show and you have to get something or you are not doing your job!!!
