Matt, you know what I really like about the second? and I am not sure if it was delibrate or not - its the way one gets drawn to the stem inside the vase and the scattered petals, only then does one look towards the actual roses. Quite a clever and different approach in portraying what is sometimes a over abused and cliche subject.

Wow the glass looks so 3D. Is there some focus trick here that I am unot understanding?? How come some parts of the glass are in focus and the flower etc is...

Suren If you go to the novelty store you can buy an out of focus glass. They are great for photography!

I really like that second image. Spot on composition and masterly control of DOF, but... I think it's just a touch too tight at the top
