....well at least these ones are red. I bought a bunch of them last week for my better half, first time I have bought her flowers in ages  Anyway could not let a photo opportunity slip by, if only to record the once in a blue moon event.

Welcome back Geoff.

#1 is a classic compo which I really like.

#2 is a little morbid feel to it. I am not sure whether it gives out a romantic vibe.

Second image is very dramatic. Something depressing about it but as an image it was well crafted.

The first is very well exposed.

The second is a fantastic example of showing the sinister side of beauty, as it were. As if it is showing it can't be trusted.

Thanks for feedback all. I quite liked the effect in the second too. I used a preset in LR3 and then made some other tweaks from there.

love the treatment you gave #2 although not a fan of the composition.

What do you not like about the composition Rooz? Is it because it is too central? I have other compositions with negative space to the left of the rose bud, perhaps that would work better?

OK here you go...another variation on the theme. Have lifted the shadows a little and now obviously with neagative space this time around.

I like the texture and colour presented in your 2nd image (1st post). Personally I don't mind the composition in this image as well.
Maybe you could add a slight vignette to this image. The darker corners would draw the viewer even more into the middle of the image. Have you got any of this image, without the leaves at the bottom (the ones extending to the edges). If not, could you clone them out? Leave the cropping the same?

my 2c worth ...

The last image presented does not do much for me. I think there is too much negative space.

I like number 2, I like the squarer crop but I wonder if you crop out some of the stem and leave a little more space at the top

See, I don't think adding negative space to a largely symmetrical image adds to the image. I think the original crop, given a square crop wouldn't work, is the best and would love to see this printed out on good gloss paper.
